At Lake Cumberland State Resort Park the fall colors are just trying to emerge. The only visible color is within a few dogwoods and black gums. The tinge of red in the dogwoods is scattered, but does catch your eye immediately.
Hopefully with the cooler temperatures and longer nights we will begin to see a wider range of color within the next week or so. We should begin to see some vibrant yellows and golds in the hickory and buckeye trees soon.
The colors should peak from mid October to the early days of November. It varies from year to year as to the amount of color but hopefully this will be a good year for fall colors.
Now is the perfect time to visit your state parks and see the canvas of autumn unfolding. Our parks have great hiking trails, scenic overlooks, picnic areas, and geocaching adventures, so get out and enjoy fall in Kentucky State Parks !
