Looking off into the distance everything looks lush and green. Distance has a way of making things not quite as they are.
As we get a closer view down by the park marina, we can see that the vibrant greens are beginning to pale as the yellows emerge. The hills are still very much alive but in a different hue.
The dogwoods are getting brighter red each week. The colors are moving in slowly but eventually the hills will be dancing with reds, oranges, yellows, purples and golds.
There have been some color changes in the Virginia creeper vines, sweet gums, black walnut, and a few sassafras trees. The colors are much more noticeable if you are closer to them.
As you walk the nature trails and drive through the twisty turns of the park a splash of color will catch your eye here and there.
With about ten percent peak colors, hopefully the hills will just keep getting more vibrant as the weeks go by.
