Lake Barkley State Resort Park

Change is in the air at Lake Barkley State Resort Park, as morning and evening temperatures grow more and more pleasant each day. A subtle crunching underfoot, also reminds us that Autumn has officially arrived, as the Oak trees seem more than ready to greet her with a thin carpet of their leaves and acorns.

The Sassafrass, Maples, Tulip Poplar, and Sweet Gums are not yet quite so inclined. With the exception of an uninformed few, they appear to be reserving their color shows for a little later into the season. Perhaps they intend to tease us with hints of red and gold stretching into the uppermost branches before making a much bolder statement. Still, it is nice to ease into change sometimes…
