The trees on the east bank of Lake Cumberland, especially around Mill Springs Mill Park are just beginning to turn. Dogwoods , winged sumac and burning bush have the most color so far. Sweet gums, hickories and maples are just beginning to show a little color. It is not just the trees and shrubs but farmers are harvesting corn, the soybeans are ripening, round bales dot the fields and together make for some beautiful fall-farm landscapes.
Bear Wallow Farm’s Autumfest takes place Saturdays and Sundays through October and offers a corn maze, pumpkin patch, nature trails, hayrides and petting zoo. The farm is located on Piney Grove Road near Nancy, KY, 606-871-7745.
